Dr. Narayan Bahadur Shrestha is a senior Veterinarian/consultant with more than three decades of successful experience in livestock, agriculture and veterinary field. At present, he is working as Program Director in Nepal Farmers Advisory Council and also as a Senior Agriculture and Veterinary Consultant at Nepal Horizon International Pvt. Ltd where his key responsibilities include providing consultancy service regarding overall management of technical aspects of Silage production, providing assistance in the research of livestock food and new technologies, providing assistance in the marketization of livestock food products and providing assistance in the establishment of agriculture and livestock related industries.
Dr. Shrestha’s educational background includes Bachelors in Veterinary science & Animal Husbandry from IAAS, Rampur,Nepal (2063), Master of science in Sustainable Development from Sikkim Manipal University, Sikkim India (2068) and Master of science in Dairy Science from Global Open University, Nagaland (2070).
Dr. Shrestha has acquired training in the field of Gender analysis and PRA for women development, Forage/Pasture Production and Animal nutrition, Rabbit keeping, Pasture management training and exposure, Artificial Insemination and management of pig/cattle, Program Planning, Implementation and monitoring at local level. He has also acquired Animal feed resource management, & Cattle Management for Milk and Meat production using regional resources training in Japan under the JICA.
Dr. Shrestha has a long record of successfully working at local and national level with Nepal Government. His past experiences includes Livestock Development Officer and Senior Livestock Development Officer at Veterinary Hospital and District Livestock Services Office in various districts of Nepal (2040-2077) and Director of Province Dairy Development Board at Province Dairy Development Board, Bagamati Province (2076-2077). His specific areas of expertise includes Program planning, Implementation, Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting in livestock development management and dairy sector development.
